Paint in the Calder

THE crash of an HGV carrying paint on the M606 near Bradford has released white paint into the Calder.

The Environment Agency state that around 12,000 drained off the carriageway into steams on Friday and eventually into the navigable Calder, Alan Tilbury reports.

Boaters should be aware

Though the streams are now 'running clear' there is an amount of the white paint in the river, with the Agency reporting that pollutant is being washed through the system and can be seen in the Calder, and boaters should be aware

The spilt paint closed the southbound carriageway of the motorway for most of Saturday during the clean-up operation.
