Two more closures

DEFINITELY no prizes for guessing where this week's closure number two is situated.

The poor Kennet & Avon again of course, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Bearings failed

With Sheffield Swing Bridge (19) causing problems again, this time it is the bearings for the axle on which the swing bridge rotates that have failed and need replacement.

We understand the contractors are 'on their way', though not notice of completion has been given.

Closure number three

Closure number three is another swing bridge, this time on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, with Snaygill Swing Bridge (181) giving up the ghost owing to a new reason— 'a fault'.

And that is all that we are told.

Plank Lane

Still on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Plank Lane Lift Bridge is still out of action, though it is being opened for boat traffic at 2pm on a regular basis.
