Two more Avon drownings

TWO men have drowned in the Avon this month, making a total of eight men having died in the river since 2009.

A man's body was pulled out of the river on Monday and another was was pulled out yesterday (Thursday) and was pronounced dead in hospital, Chris Gibson tells us.

City centre

The first drowning was in Bath city centre, with the latest being by the Jolly Sailor pub by Saltford Lock on the Avon.

The latest drowning was of the well known cricketer Hamza Shabbir.

During the past few years railing have been erected along the rive side in Bath in an attempt to cut down on the drownings in the city.
