Highly toxic chemical being used

CONTRACTORS to Canal & River Trust, we have discovered, are using the highly toxic chemical, Monsanto's Roundup to spray around locks.

'Roundup' is highly toxic, that has scientific links to neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's and is banned in many countries around the world including France and Holland.

Using the chemical

Two of the Trust's contractors spraying around Wheaton Aston lock on the Shropshire Union Canal were discovered to be using this chemical, not even wearing masks with one operative spraying the lock side within feet of a boat with a young family on a boat descending the lock.

We understand the use of this chemical is a nationwide policy, but surely smacks in the face of any sort of environmental policy the Trust claims to have.
