Not evicting 41 families

CONTRADICTING the information given us by Gary Barnes that the Broads Authority had issued 41 eviction notices to houseboat moorers at the western end of Thorpe Island in Norwich, we are informed that this is not correct.

Lorna Marsh, for the Authority explains:

Not evicting

"The Authority is not evicting 41 families or building a marina and has not been invited to meet with the residents. This is a planning consent issue which has run for several years during which time we have tried to negotiate with the landowner.

"Instead the landowner has taken the case to court and each time planning inspectors and judges have ruled he does not have the necessary planning permission."
