Tomasz Kocik was on trial at the Old Bailey accused of murdering his girlfriend  between the 28th April and 10th May this year, whose body was discovered by boaters who saw her red hair cascading from the suitcase when it collided with their boat.

Kocik, who is Polish, claiming he found Miss Ligman dead at their flat was not believed by the jury, that convicted him after a day's deliberating, he showing no emotion as the verdict was delivered.

It was on the 1st May that CCTV caught Kocik dragging what was obviously a heavy suitcase through the streets of London to the Grand Union Canal towpath, then returning with wet trousers.
