Selby Lock closed again

Published: Friday, 06 November 2015

ONCE again Selby Lock is closed to navigation, this time owing to a fault on its lower gates, Canal & River Trust explain.

In late July it was paddle failure that closed the lock, that gives direct access from the tidal Ouse and so prevents boaters coming downriver from York using the safest route back onto the canals.

The locks are to be inspected, so no intimation as to when re-opened.

Another explanation

Our Keith Gudgin, who supplied us with this information remarks on another closure at Brick Lock (14) on the Stort, where CaRT tells us that there are 'Investigation works to scope future repairs', adding that like us, he has no idea what that means!
