Braunston Elsan working again

THE Elsan at Braunston Service on the Oxford Canal is now back in working order, and can once more be used by boaters.

It was way back in August that the Elsan facility at Braunston failed, and early September when our Mick Fitzgibbons reported the 'Braunston Stink', with the attached photograph showing it locked, as effluent was seeping out of the service facility, with boaters treading in the residue to reach a water tap, that was then fenced off.

No intimation

Keith Gudgin tells us that the facility has been repaired by contractors, but there is no intimation of what the problem was or why it took so long to repair.

The lack of the Elsan at Braunston caused problems for many boaters, as it is an important junction and so was widely used.
