Higher parapet?

ANOTHER drunk man has had to be rescued from the Ouse in York after climbing onto a bridge parapet and jumping in.

The man, described as 'heavily intoxicated' was rescued from the river by the crew of the York rescue boat after being alerted, with the man seen in difficulties, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Extremely lucky

He was immediately taken to York Hospital where he was treated for the effects of cold water shock, with one of his rescuers remarking that he was extremely lucky to have survived considering the amount of alcohol he had consumed and the effect of the cold water on his system.

The river claimed four people in the city last year, so perhaps there will be a call for a higher parapet...
