H&S ruin Cambridge punting

THE Health & Safety Executive have decreed that all those punting on the Cam in Cambridge must first sit through a briefing and wear life jackets.

The operators of the punting are up in arms at the new draconian rules that have been brought in, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Safety stickers

The new rules include visitors having to sit through an airline-style briefing, keep their arms inside the boats, with operators having to display numerous safety stickers, despite boats travelling at just 2mph.

The new rules have been approved by the Cam Conservators, believing it will make the river safer, though the operators state they will have no effect whatsoever, but that they are ruining a the relaxing Cambridge pastime and just pandering to silly health and safety rules.
