Pollution closes locks

Published: Wednesday, 19 August 2015

THE pollution of the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigations by a fire at Hexthorpe has caused it to be closed.

The fire, yesterday, Tuesday, released an amount of oil into the waterway near Doncaster Lock, with the Environmental Agency installing a boom across the navigation, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Now closed

This means that the waterway between Doncaster and Sprotborough locks is now closed to boating until the Agency can deal with the pollution.

There is no intimation when this will be.
