Boat deliberately fired

THE police believe that a boat that was on fire on the Thames at Oxford was started deliberately.

The Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to the fire on Saturday afternoon, with the boat well on fire, and the crew were concerned about gas cylinders exploding, but this was narrowly avoided, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Thick arid smoke

It is not known if it was a narrowboat or a fibreglass boat, but as it is told that it 'gave off thick acrid smoke' as it burnt, it would seem in was fibreglass.

The police are treating the incident as suspicious and are investigating.
