Email: BWML campsite

BRITISH Waterways Marinas Ltd running a campsite, explains why, when I left a phone message to reserve a pitch at BWML's Bath Marina/Campsite recently it took them nearly two weeks to phone me back, writes Amy Dickerson.

The answer-phone starts off saying "they value your custom." Should have realised who ran it by that comment alone. By the time they got back to me I had arranged an alternative option elsewhere.

Impress the public

I have been told by a local fisherman and former employee of BW that at a recent meeting between the local fishermen and CaRT on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, CaRT are looking for a flagship enterprise on the canal to impress the public.

They are looking to build wooden chalets to sell for holiday use on a disused arm at Sharpness. Sounds like they must have been talking to the Camping & Caravanning Club who have reduced the number of pitches on their sites to accommodate these wooden shacks, at the expense of the touring caravanner.

Anyway the fishermen hold the fishing rights to this stretch of water. Once again CaRT expose their lack of research and knowledge about their own waterways.
