Ridiculous petition wording

HAVING read the ridiculous wording of the petition that the National Bargee Travellers Association have put together, I find it difficult to believe that any person would wish to sign it, writes Peter Ponting.

Basically they have cut their own throats and admitted that they do not meet the required standard in paying a reduced licence fee, in return for accepting the clearly laid down rules.

Untenable

By stating in the petition that their position has become untenable, ie 'incapable of being defended', they actually point the finger at themselves.

Finally the petition states that, 'CaRT as landlords' (A person who rents out land, houses etc) are not looking after its tenants.

So CaRT owns your narrowboat? With the generator running all hours into the night, with your belongings strewn across the area to make your mooring look sociable.

Let's put this petition into perspective, as I am sure any politician or organisation receiving it would.

Admits not obeying rules

It admits that the people with continuous cruiser licences do not obey the rules, and are blaming CaRT for trying to do its job.

Most boaters have no problems with the genuine continuous cruisers, it is as always, the minority that spoil it for the majority.
