Half-term at Dudley

Published: Thursday, 05 February 2015

FAMILIES are being encouraged to visit Dudley Canal Tunnel and Limestone Mines this February Half Term to have a go at craft activities themed for the Chinese New Year.

For just 50p, visitors can board a specially adapted classroom boat and make a glow in the dark paper lantern to take with them into the tunnels. Children of all ages are welcome and parents are encouraged to get stuck-in too.

Throughout the days

The 45 minutes boat trips into the tunnels and caverns will also be running throughout the days, from 10.30am to 3pm, from Monday 16th to Friday 20th February, with special 20% early-bird discounts on trips before midday.

Sarah Fellows, Heritage Activities Officer for Dudley Canal Trust Trips Ltd explained:

"With Chinese New Year falling in half term this year, it seemed a perfect theme for our family craft activity. We're looking forward to welcoming lots of families throughout the week, so we suggest people pre-book their spaces on the activity boat."

Craft activities

The craft activities run between 12pm and 2pm. Spaces in the sessions are limited and can be booked by phoning 0121 557 6265.

Visitors taking the 45 minute trip in February Half Term will also be able to see a new sound and light show in the tunnel's famous Singing Cavern, which launches that week.
