Man dies in Ouse

A MAN died in the River Great Ouse near St Neots on New Year's Day when his car left the road and plunged into the river.

He was trapped in the car and drowned, as no one saw the car leave the road it being the early hours of the morning, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Realised there was a body

It was only after a passing motorist noticed the car in the water and contacted the emergency services that it was realised there was a body in the vehicle.

The car was a white Polo, and it is estimated it entered the river around 3am, with the man the only occupant of the vehicle.
