Email: Another kind of attack

Published: Monday, 10 November 2014

As a rather well built fella, I'm not too worried about being attacked on the towpaths, though I can well understand the lady who wrote now being so in built-up areas after the vicious attack on the woman on the towpath at the top of Farmer's Bridge Flight in Birmingham, especially as she had a child with her.

But the towpaths in Birmingham are certainly not safe for women or men, from the hurtling cyclists with their heads down rushing to and from their places of work.

Being hit by one of them as I have, though of course not giving the stress of an actual attack, was most painful and my arm in a sling for a fortnight. Incidentally I reported it to CaRT, but received the stupid reply asking me to give the cyclist's name and address!

To me that was just a get-out, for they must realise that there is no chance that the cyclist, on wheels, was going to hang around answering questions, as he knew he (or she, the cyclist was going too fast to see) was in the wrong
