Saved from being pushed into canal

IT WAS the prompt arrival of police that saved a woman being literally thrown into the Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes.

The unnamed woman had been held against her will by a man on the towpath of the Grand Union near Campbell Park, who intended throwing her into the water when the police arrived at the scene, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Taser

The police attempted to negotiate the release of the woman, but the man resisted, stating he would throw her in the water, but the stand-off was solved when the police managed to taser the man, who then immediately dropped the woman on the ground, with the police rushing to grab him and attend to the woman.

He was immediately arrested on suspicion of kidnap and is now in police custody.

The police had been alerted by people living near the waterway who had heard shouts and screams around midnight.
