THE canal basins at Stourport at the end of the Staffs & Worcs Canal will be bringing history to life at its Easter Heritage Weekend.

There is an Open Day on Easter Monday, that will give visitors the opportunity to discover more about the history of Stourport with a costume guided walk at 12.30pm and a stroll and talk about the features of the canal basins at 3.30pm.

Open for visitors

The Old Ticket Office heritage room, in York Street, and the Tontine Stable heritage room will be open for visitors to explore from noon to 4pm and a free water safety session for children aged between five and 11 years old will take place at 2.30pm in the Tontine garden to teach them how to be safe around rivers, canals and basins.

On Saturday and Easter Monday, Canal & River Trust volunteers will be on hand to show visitors the living quarters of an authentic historic working canal boat from 11am to 4pm to gain an insight into life on the waterways.
