Mon & Brec getting hammered

IN ADDITION to the long running closure of the Mon & Brec near Abergavenny (Mon & Brec closed until March) two more closures have been announce today, Friday.

An abandoned culvert under the waterway near Gilwern needs investigating with its possible decommissioning, that requires the canal to be dewatered and so stop planks are being installed between bridges 104 and 105 Keith Gudgin tells us.

Rubble & silt

By Bridge 115 at Llangattock, an estimated 70 tonnes of rubble and silt was washed into the waterway, and it is necessary to close the navigation until it is all cleared and the bank made safe.

In both instances Canal & River Trust is aiming to have the canal open as soon as possible.
