Mobile workshop started

THE mobile workshop, where engineers and the like attend to broken down boats, is now in operation as a mobile workshop from Glasson Basin at Lancaster has now commenced.

Yesterday, Tuesday 11th February saw the official launch of the new mobile workshop business that was officially launched by the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor June Ashworth, who was impressed by the standard of work she saw.

Long standing

Darren Bramhall, Operations Director for BWML commented:

"Glasson holds a long standing and well-earned reputation in boat repairs, osmosis treatments, rigging and spray painting. Experienced in working with insurance companies to return damaged boats to a good condition, the marina has more recently developed strong links with commercial operators, some of whom you will see at Glasson today.

"The location of the marina on the estuary and linked to the canal has also given Glasson the opportunity to develop work skills appropriately for both coastal and inland boats. Recognising that we operate in difficult times for our customers and that the marina is not direct and easy to reach, we are proud to launch a mobile workshop business. With this, Glasson can bring their expertise to customers who need help in repairs, treatments or general work across the region."

Received support

Glasson have already received support from Whitehaven, Fleetwood and Maryport Marinas, many of whom were able to attend the occasion. Barnaby Hayward, Marina Manager told us he was really excited to be able to support other marinas, who don't necessarily have a workshop themselves, with their mobile unit. "Our staff are well qualified and experienced, something that customers really appreciate when trusting their boat repairs with someone else."
