Grand Union reopened

BY MOVING the excess flood water down the pounds, the Grand Union Canal that was closed due to flooding is again open after the spell of dry weather.

It was between locks 28 and 45 that the flood occurred, closing the waterway, with water over the banks in many places, but it was reopened yesterday, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Closed

Though it is the habit of some boaters on that part of the Grand Union to leave gates open, Canal & River Trust emphasise that all gates and paddles are left closed.

However, with such downpours again today, Tuesday, the Trust is keeping the situation under review.
