THERE is another 'blown' cill on a Leeds & Liverpool Canal lock.

With this time the Bank Newton Flight out of action as Lock 39 has suffered a 'blown' cill, as Canal & River Trust now calls them, with the flight now closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

Preparation for works to begin

Its Direct Services Team was on site yesterday, Tuesday, to set up site preparation for repair works to begin.

The last 'blown' cill on the Leeds & Liverpool that was on the Wigan Flight took nine weeks to repair, so this could be a long job.
