Gearbox failed again

IT WAS two weeks ago that a failed gearbox stopped the Don Doors being operated on the New Junction Canal.

It was taken away to be repaired, which was done, but bad weather stopped it being installed, then high water prevented installation but the gearbox was eventually fitted, but with a warning that additional works would be needed, Keith Gudgin reported. 

But it did not work!

It is not known if the 'additional works' was the problem of this new failure or was a another problem entirely.

So out the gearbox came again, with of course the navigation still closed, with it expected to be re-fitted again this week, with the hope that this time it will work.
