Prince Charles opened restored lock today

HIS Royal Highness The Prince of Wales officially opened the recently restored Wallbridge Lower Lock on the Stroudwater today.

Before officially opening the lock he boarded the Cotswold Canal Trust narrowboat Perseverance at Wallbridge Upper Lock and descend through it, before cutting a ribbon and entering the Lower Lock, accompanied by Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, Alan Tilbury reports.

Met volunteers

He then met the many volunteers who have worked on the project. The event culminating in the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the completion of canal restoration between Stonehouse and Thrupp and the reconnection of the Stroudwater and the Thames & Severn Canal

Prince Charles is a long-standing supporter of the Cotswold Canals Trust, having previously opened Blunder Lock and visited Sapperton Tunnel.
