ONCE again it seems the lack of routine maintenance has caused a closure on the Kennet & Avon Canal.
This time it is Burnt Mill Lock (65) at Great Bedwyn Wharf that is out of action Keith Gudgin tells us.
Inoperable
The gate collar broke yesterday (Sunday) on one of the bottom gates making the lock inoperable and the lock therefore closed.
However, we are told that Canal & River Trust already has a team on site attempting to rectify the problem by making a temporary repair.
