THE Canal & River Trust workers have left boaters aground at Bosley Locks on the Macclesfield Canal after repairing a paddle but then leaving failing to refill the pound, with boats grounded.

The men were repairing a paddle on Lock 6 of the flight, but then left it with the pound between locks 5 and 6 draining away, leaving boats grounded, and Keith Gudgin writes:

Had left

I went through the locks this morning and the same pound was empty. As I got to the previous lock I was instructed to stay where I was until I was told to go by one of the CaRT men who were 'filling the pound'. An hour and half later I went tot see what was happening and found they had left the site with the pound only half filled again.

When I mentioned this to a boater coming down he said they had told him that as boats were going down then they would take the water down and fill the pound.

They don't know

Does no one in CaRT realise that although you may take the water with you into the low pound, you also take it away with you when you leave the pound and go through the next lock therefore not filling the low pound at all!
