VULNERABLE 80 years old Neville Tyldesley was discharged from hospital in a taxi whose driver was given the wrong address, and being completely disorientated in strange surroundings stumbled into the Rochdale Canal at Miles Platting.
Luckily someone saw him fall in and immediately rescued him from the waterway, otherwise the outcome could have been much worse as Neville was wearing a thin pyjama top and still had a cannula in his arm, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Completely disorientated
Not only was Neville blind but also suffering from dementia and so was completely disorientated at the strange surroundings.
It is understood that the taxi driver was given the wrong address when he picked up Neville from Manchester Royal Infirmary, causing the confusion.
