BOATERS selling their boats at the British Waterways Marinas Ltd (BWML) marinas in London are no longer restricted to the marina as the broker, but can use any broker.

A new document has been published outlining the options and procedures for selling from both Limehouse (pictured) or Poplar marinas in the city, no matter who is the broker.

No longer restricted

This means that as in the past people selling their boats in either of the two marinas are no longer restricted to the marina being the broker, but can use their preferable one.

The main points of selling boats from BWML property are:

  • As the seller the boaters are not restricted on who to appoint to act as their broker.
  • The appointed broker will be required to complete, sign and exchange a Broker Agency Agreement Form with BWML.
  • The broker will detail to prospective buyers the 5% Berth Transfer fee which is payable by the purchaser.
  • BWML will support the transfer of the berth to the new owner.
  • The new procedure is now in effect and will be applied to all transactions completed in a BWML marina from this date.
