A NARROWBOAT has been left abandoned by its owner in the centre of the Ashby Canal between its junction with the Coventry Canal and Bulkington causing problems for deep draughted boats.
The boat is derelict, with one boater inspecting it stating that it had no name and there was nothing inside to identify it and is in poor condition. It seems it simply sank and was left where is was, Roger Fox tells us.
Simply left it
It is not known if the owner attempted to get the sinking boat to the bank or simply left it, and it is not known how the owner managed to get to the bank, unless it was by a passing boat.
One theory is that the owner vacated the boat at the bank, it being in very poor condition and left it sinking, with it drifting into the centre of the waterway. It is not known what caused the boat to sink.
Canal & River Trust have managed to identify the owner, and have issued a request for it to be removed as soon as possible from the centre of the canal. Photograph by Nuneaton News.
