Dutton repair complete

THE repair to the leak at Dutton on the Trent & Mersey Canal has been completed, with good progress having been made, and the contractors now away from the site.

However the waterway is still closed, as work is continuing on wash walls that need repair along the canal. Keith Gudgin tells us.

Preston Brook Tunnel

The wash walls are in the area of Preston Brook Tunnel and Soothill Bridge 200.

The repair was caused by a leak where a former breach was repaired and the existing bank, that was becoming steadily worse, that eventually left no alternative but to close the canal and institute the repair.
