Another breach?

THE Droitwich Barge Canal is now closed to navigation owing to a 'leak' between locks 3 and 4 on the Ladywood Flight.

The waterway is closed from Hawford Bottom Lock 1 to Ladywood Top Lock 8, with further information promised this coming Saturday after the leak has been inspected, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Could be extended

Canal & River Trust state that it is possible that the closure could be extended, dependent on its findings.

It was in 2011 that the Droitwich Barge Canal was joined up with the restored Droitwich Canal, completing a ring taking in the Worcester & Birmingham Canal and the Severn, after years of endeavour by volunteers.
