THE pound at Dutton on the Trent & Mersey Canal has been drained with stop planks now in place, following the discovery of the leak at the previous breach.

A hole of about a yard long has been discovered where the former breach repair joins the original bank, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No date

No date is given when a repair can be undertaken and completed, only that the stop planks have been reinforced, which signifies a long wait.

The former breach at the site took eight months to repair, though it was a very large hole, but the sandy bank always presents a problem needing an excessive length of repair as the picture shows.

Any boaters stuck on the wrong side of the drained pound are asked to contact the Red Bull Office on 0303 040 4040.
