Lock House Coffee Kiosk opens today

Published: Wednesday, 01 October 2014

NOT really the official opening, but the new Lock House Coffee Kiosk at the old Sawley Lock cottage opens for business this morning, Wednesday.

After many months of preparation, that included a complete refurbishment of the lock cottage, by its previous incumbent David Parrott, Kathryn Collier opens her new venture to provide sustenance to passing walkers and cyclists.

Coffees

No expense has been spared in installing the equipment to give the best of drinks and treats, including a range of coffees that put Costa to shame, but at just about half the price!  All at a price range from £1.30 a cup they include Americano, Cappuccino, Café Latte, Café Mocha, Double Expresso and Filter. All of course there is tea, and a real 'plus' for the thirsty hiker is that a refill is just half price! Plenty of soft drinks are being offered including specials for the kids.

As a cook, Kathryn is providing a huge selection of home made cakes and treats including a selection of tray bakes and slices, and for the colder weather, freshly baked hot sausage rolls.

Covered seating

There is ample covered seating with a view of boaters working the locks, and essential for dog walkers, their pets are welcome.

For the Autumn, Kathryn is opening Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 4.30pm daily. For those with cars, do as the walkers and anglers do—leave the vehicle in Sawley Marina visitors car park and walk to the canal bridge through a handy gate then a pleasant walk down the towpath.
