Man found in Shroppie

A MAN was discovered in the Shropshire Union Canal in Chester, but as he had not drowned but was unconscious, he was rushed to hospital.

All the three emergency services were involved in the rescue, with first aid administered on the spot, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Criticised

It was confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances, but Foundation Enterprises North West, that runs the hostel have been criticised for opening such a hostel that contains vulnerable people, by the side of a canal.

People living by the hostel have complained of rowdy drunken behaviour since the hostel was opened, with it being expected that someone would eventually fall in the canal.

Cheshire West and Chester Council gave unanimous approval for the hostel, even though it was shown that 85% were against the proposal.
