End of the honeymoon?

I WOULD suggest the honeymoon with Richard Parry is coming to an end writes Ralph Freeman.

With his recent public statements for instance, re-iterating the nonsense issued by the Old Guard (the 'leftovers' from the British Waterways era) that the canals are in the best state for the last 10 years (dream on), he seems to be following the same sorry trail trod by Robin Evans.

Too much trouble

In other words don't fix things, that's too much trouble. Just tell lies, it's easier; then hope the boaters are gullible enough to swallow the PR spin and propaganda that increasingly seems to be to taking the place of maintenance.

The only other explanation I can think of is that Richard Parry has been given the 'Mushroom Treatment' ((kept in the dark and fed bullsh*t) by the 'Old Guard'!

Trusted lieutenants

To counter this he needs to move into CaRT a couple of trusted lieutenants PDQ to roam free inside CaRT and find out what is really going on, before his credibility sinks to the bottom of canals and joins years of accumulated silt.

Looking at the state of the waterways now compared to previous years, we have had many more structural failures recently than I can remember over the last ten years, probably a result of poor or non existent maintenance?

See and know too much

Perhaps the recent harassment of liveaboard boaters is linked to the poor state of many canals? Could it be that they see and know too much and embarrass the Old Guard at CaRT by complaining ?

Come on Richard, we were looking to you for action not propaganda! Please don't let the boating community down like your predecessor did with monotonous regularity.
