A MASSIVE development is now underway by the side of the Bridgewater Canal in Runcorn.

Already 830 homes have been constructed and plans have just been unveiled for 86 houses by the side of the waterway on the site of the old Barge pub, that has been demolished, Alan Tilbury tells us.

It is all part of a £150m regeneration of Runcorn's Castlefield estate, with the new development named Bridgewater Gardens that will contain two, three and four-bedroom houses.

In addition to the 830 homes that have been built, around 300 have been refurbished and 1,200 demolished.

The plans include a £11m village square with shops, and community centre.
