Pump failure closes canal

THE Sheffield & South Yorkshire Canal is closed at Tinsley as a result of a failure of the pumps at Tinsley Flight.

This means there is no access to Victoria Quays or Tinsley Marina, as the waterway is closed for the three miles from Victoria Quays to Holmes Lock, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No equipment

As there is no equipment on hand to repair the pumps, this means the waterway will have to remain closed until the equipment can be sourced, most likely after the week-end.
