THREE fire crews turned out to rescue a narrowboat adrift on the Thames at Pangbourne yesterday (Saturday) evening, when its owner came back to see it drifting down river.
The boater had gone into the Swan, tying the boat up at the moorings, and was shocked to see it missing, but could just see its shape in the dark as it drifted towards Pangbourne Weir, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Water rescue boat
This was around 9.30pm when one of the crews had a water rescue boat, that was launched to enable the fire people to board it, and bring it back to shore.
It is understood that the boat was not properly secured on the moorings, as vandalism was not suspected.
