Stephen Fry backs Broads

THE new Love Your National Parks celebration, launched this week, has the backing of celebrity and Norfolk resident Stephen Fry.

He is lending his full support to the scheme, taking to Twitter to promote the new campaign of which the Broads is a member.

Increase peoples' understanding

The high-profile campaign is aimed to increase peoples' understanding of what the parks have to offer, culturally and economically. It is the third time this week that Stephen has endorsed links to his home county.

The England-wide celebration was launched by Defra Minister Richard Benyon during his visit to Northumberland National Park this week, explaining:

"Our national parks are some of the most treasured places across the country with ninety million visitors every year.  National parks play a key role in rural economic growth, as they are home to thousands of businesses and provide benefits to local communities. I fully support this great campaign and hope it encourages people to visit, enjoy and love our national parks."

The celebration will involve a range of events in England's 10 National Parks, with National Parks Week running from 29th July to 4th August.
