'Out in the sticks' thieves

IT IS not only in the towns and cities where boats are being broken into, but on rural waterways 'out in the sticks'.

The Leicester Arm between Watford and Foxton was targeted,  with boats broken into, this time moored by the remote Bridge 50 near Laughton Hills, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Medals stolen

A narrowboat left unattended for the day had items stolen including several First World War medals, that are of great sentimental value. They were inscribed V J Smith County of London Yeomanry.

Yet again it shows how easily narrowboats can be entered, and again the police suggest more thought should be given to their security.
