Cruiser explosion

SUCH was the force of an explosion in a cruiser moored at Sharpness on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, that the force threw a woman overboard.

The woman however was not badly hurt, being treated on site by the ambulance people for minor cuts and bruises, Peter Ponting tells us.

Severely damaged

However, the blast took the roof off the cruiser, that was severely damaged, both by the blast and resulting fire, that the fire service dealt with.

It is understood that there was a build up of fuel vapour from the petrol engine, that ignited.
