Aqua Open Day

AQUA Narrowboats, a company specialising in luxury narrowboat hire and building bespoke narrowboats, is inviting everyone to attend an Open Day to view its workshop and narrowboats.

The event will be held on Sunday 17th March, 11am to 4pm at its workshop at Mercia Marina on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

A spokesman for the company tells us:

"It is a chance to step aboard our high quality hire narrowboats to see how comfortable and well equipped they are, ideal before considering a canal holiday. Or if you are thinking about buying a narrowboat it's a perfect opportunity to gather ideas and discuss a boat build.

"March is an ideal time to visit the canals with Spring just arriving, days getting longer, and life springing up everywhere. There are plenty more activities to keep you busy when you visit, with a tea room and trip boat at the marina, as well as a lovely canal walk into Willington and back with gastro pubs on route. Thereā€˜s no need to book, just pop along on the day and you'll be welcomed with hot drinks and cakes"

Reputation

Aqua Narrowboats was established in 2004 with one hire boat, fitted out and operated by Justin & Jane. They quickly gained a reputation for high quality boats and customer service. In 2008, with an expanded hire fleet, Aqua Narrowboats moved into new premises at Mercia Marina taking on two new employees to help build further hire boats and bespoke boats for private customers, as well as establishing a marine repairs centre for existing boat owners.

Since then, and during a double dip recession, the company has steadily expanded and now employs seven permanent staff as well as four additional casual staff.
