Need experience

THE people in Canal & River Trust who need valuable boating experience are the directors and some of the general managers, writes Kevin McNiff.

A a result of joining a deep draughted boat on the Walsall Canal, Dean Davies put in measures to have spot dredging at the pinch points he witnessed first hand.

Bridge holes obstructed

Having just reached Hardings Wood Junction, I can safely say that the Maccy is in need of some TLC. Almost all the bridge holes are obstructed on the offside by vegetation; mooring points for swing bridges are too shallow and you may just be able to make out the lock landing bollards at Hall Green behind the vegetation. (Pictured.) So much for the Health and Safety of boaters!

As a canal it's a bit like the curates egg—good in parts. Bosley Locks are in good condition but the pounds are not so, and you could easily get caught on the bottom while waiting for a lock to fill.
