Liverpool Link restriction

THERE is feeling amongst boaters that the limit of only 18 boats a week allowed into Liverpool along the Liverpool Link is not enough, and hardly does justice to the cost of creating the waterway.

Boaters have contacted us stating that they have been turned down for a passage from the Leeds & Liverpool Canal down the Link into the city.

Relatively empty

Though many moorings were built to accommodate boats, these are relatively empty owing to only a limited number of passages allowed on just three days a week.

Even those boats allowed have to fit in with the strict timetable, meaning that many are unable to meet the times given.

Can be accommodated

Yet it has been shown that many more boats can be accommodated when special events are organised in the docks.

The lack of activity on the link is allowing duck weed to flourish, that is now proving to be a problem.
