Boy drowns in Avon

THE body of a 14 years old boy has been recovered from the Avon near Saltford Weir and Lock below Bath.

Aaron Burgess was swimming in the river by the weir at Saltford on Tuesday afternoon, when he disappeared beneath the surface, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Fast flowing

All the emergency services were called out, but it wasn't until nearly midnight that his body was eventually found in the river that was fast flowing.

There are notices warning of the dangers of swimming, pointing out the chill of the water and under water obstructions.
