Salvaging the London Boat Show

WITH a dearth of visitors and little more than one hall half full of power boats at this year's show, the organisers have been consulting with interested parties to get suggestions for next year.

The show that was staged in January had furniture, cars and power boats, but little else, and with an entry charge of £20 proved something of a disaster.

Wider selection

It is thought the event organisers should encourage a wider selection of boats, with narrowboats being mentioned, but at the rates charged for space coupled with the state of the industry at the moment, it seems very unlikely that builder will attend.

There was little else besides power boats, and it is felt that the show must attract a wider audience, but with such high charges for sales space it would seem that it is only the big power boat builders who can afford the prices.

The boat and caravan show held at the National Exhibition Centre at Birmingham is no longer held, but that at least gave some variety of exhibits.
