Thames polluted by oil

AN OIL slick appeared on the Thames on Monday, with Environment Agency investigations being carried out.

The slick was in Windsor between Windsor and Eton bridges, and caused the river to be sealed off as the agency attempted to contain it, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Swallowed oil

There was panic regarding the swans that were affected by the oil, and in total 68 of them were cleaned, with the Queen's Swan Marker, David Barber, concerned that some of the swans may have swallowed the oil.

The leakage is being investigated, but no announcement has been made by the Environment Agency.  A virus killed over 100 swans in the same area last year.
