Cruise for seriously ill children

EVERY year Dave Smith, owner of Avon Leisure Cruises, Together with orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Nadim Aslam, arrange a cruise for seriously ill children on the Avon.

Last week they welcomed both children and their families on the  Spirit of Freedom for a day on the river from Evesham, for the children from Acorns Children's Hospice, Alan Tilbury reveals.

VIP treatment

Dave explained:

"We give them the VIP treatment for a day, they are greeted by the mayor and get to have their picture taken with him. It's a chance for these youngsters to escape their bedrooms for a bit and get out into the countryside, and we let them have a steer of the boat and experience the wildlife."

The boat is donated free, with any cost shard by the two.
