Gloucester & Sharpness Canal restrictions

THE low water flow in the Severn has created restrictions on lock usage to and from the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.

 

Drought regulations have now been implemented on the river, that prevent unlimited pumping of water for lock usage at Gloucester Lock.  It will only be worked five times daily. The telephone number is 01452 310832.

Sharpness restrictions

A lock-less waterway, this also means restrictions at Sharpness Lock, that will only be available on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays as the tide permits. Though it will be possible at other times with commercial traffic.

Even further restrictions will be made should the river flow continue to fall, but will be reviewed.
